This blog is evolving. Or rather i keep changing my mind about what it should encompass. It doesn't really matter, because generally its still about Flower Couture, wedding flowers and crafts. Most of the time, its the creative personnel who's writing here, instead of the business development personnel, who's writing more at www.flowercouture.com

Vintage Garden Wedding @ Fort Canning

"I love it when a plan comes together"
- Hannibal Smith (The A-Team)

And that's what happened at Hellen and Winston's Vintage Garden Wedding at Fort Canning Park.

I'm featuring this wedding because it is one of the more creative weddings i've come across in Singapore. Kudos to the creative bride who is a designer herself and a fellow crafter. Meeting Hellen is like meeting a kindred spirit. View her awesome wedding blog and be inspired!

The following two pictures were her blueprint (no pun intended) for the wedding, with a unique colour theme of tiffany blue, coral and cream. Very unusual for weddings in Singapore. Hellen wanted a casual, fun and vintage feel to her decorations, with different vessels and bottles containing casually put together flowers.

The most challenging part of the preparation was Hellen's colour theme. The cloth colour was tad tricky, as it was not sky blue, nor was it sea-green, but it was tiffany blue for the pews and table runners. Nevertheless, i found the exact colour (phew...). And Coral is such a difficult colour, even more so than Fuchia. Its not pink, neither is it orange, its just Coral! Again, by the grace of God (seriously), i found the coral coloured roses and gerberas with coral centred (although most people would just label it as pink centred gerberas). Finding the exact colour shade was like striking lottery - i was estatic!

Sometimes its easier to work with brides who have a strong vision of what they want to see on their wedding day. Even better if she had pictures to show me, like what Hellen did.  With her blueprint in had, it made it clearer for me to deliver exactly what she liked.

For the vintage feel, i had fun sourcing for vintage looking cups, glasses and bottles. I had even more fun dressing them up with ribbons, pearls and lace. The details were definitely time consuming, but to me, details matter. Each item should look pretty on its own and when put together as a decoration theme, it will rock the house down!

Prep for Vintage Garden Wedding

Its a week away from Hellen and Winston's vintage garden wedding at Fort Canning Park.

Been running through the necessary preparations as i'll be away at church camp from monday to thursday. Once i'm back, its go go go!

As i'm tying turquiose ribbons on the variety of candle holders, i experience a sense of peace and joy. People destress in many ways, some play X-box, some go shopping, some watch tv, some play sports, my escape has always been craft.

Its a mild obssession of mine. But i conclude that some good measure of obssession is necessary for success in anything.

Hellen's wedding is gonna be really fun and interesting. After all those months of liaising and mulling over the details, its finally here. Let's get the show on the road!
